Roy Keane continues his seemingly life-long rivalry with Arsenal, as he berates them following their Champions League loss
Roy Keane has referred to the Arsenal defence as “soft and weak” after the Gunners went down 3-2 at home to a mediocre looking Olympiacos side in the UEFA Champions League.
Keane rose to the limelight during his time at Manchester United – when the fiery Irishman earned a reputation for both his hot-headed nature, as well as an obvious disdain for United’s then major rivals for the title; Arsenal.
It seems as though none of that fire has gone out in his older age, with Keane issuing a vicious tirade in the direction of the North London club;
“Listen, they’re soft. Arsenal are soft. They’re weak. The goals they give away… you’ve got no chance of winning any big game if you defend like that.
“I enjoy watching Arsenal, I think they’re great to watch, particularly going forward. But part of football, unfortunately, is defending. And mentally, they’re weak.”
Keane’s comment might sound a little harsh, but in reality it’s hard to argue with his statement given Arsene Wenger’s side’s constant inability to perform in big matches across the past 10 years.
