Dan Rafael has a cheeky verbal dig at Carl Froch by saying Joe Calzaghe would’ve fought Gennady Golovkin.
One name currently on the lips of every single man, woman and dog alive in the boxing world right now apart from Floyd Mayweather is that of Gennady Golovkin. The Kazakh fighter is currently undefeated in 33 fights that he has participated in having won them all and 30 of those wins have came via knockout.
Speaking of Gennady Golovkin, his name was mentioned in a recent verbal altercation between ESPN writer, Dan Rafael, and former Super Middleweight Champion, Carl Froch. Rafael appeared to have came out on top in this war of words between the two having name-dropped Golovkin without Froch committing to fight the Kazakh star in a fight.
Rafael then added fuel to the fire by tweeting “Calzaghe would have fought GGG.” This came following his comments regarding Froch telling the boxer to remain silent if he isn’t going to fight Golovkin.
In what was a rather confusion piece of social media, Carl Froch tweeted “Too big & too strong for GGG.” This was confusing because Froch had the opportunity to arrange a fight with Golovkin with the Kazakh fighter even willing to come over to the United Kingdom to make the fight happen.
Instead of silencing his critics in the ring like a boxer should, Froch turned his attentions to Dan Rafael by saying “Dan Rafael, you should know as much as anyone, boxing is never that ‘simple’, so say something constructive, otherwise, silence.”
Therefore, Froch wanted Rafael to say positive things about him as opposed to negative things regarding the name-drop of Golovkin without a fight actually confirmed.
Carl Froch has won 33 of the 35 fights he has participated in losing just two.
