Anthony Watson facing two separate charges after picking up red card for Bath
England and Bath full-back Anthony Watson is set to be called up on two separate charges by Rugby Football Union, following his red card last week.
Watson would receive his marching orders in a loss to top of the table Saracens, but could now receive a season-ending ban.
The first charge brought against the 22-year-old is for an “act contrary to good sportsmanship”, with it alleged that Watson used profane language towards the referee after being sent from the pitch.
The second is for the tackle on Alex Goode which saw him receive the red card in the first place – with Watson tackling the Sarries man in mid-air.
With a potential 10-week sentence being lined up for Watson, it could well see him ruled out of England’s tour of Australia – as well as, naturally, the rest of the Aviva Premiership season.
Thankfully for Bath, they won’t be missing him for too long, with last year’s runners-up looking unlikely to make the top four this time around.
