Marchionne states that Arrivabene’s job at Ferrari is not in danger
Sergio Marchionne has quashed rumours linking Maurizio Arrivabene with an exit from Ferrari, with the Italian backing his current head of operations at the Formula One team.
“No, these rumours are rubbish,” he told Italian media before the Spanish grand prix.
“The work he is doing is extraordinary. The truth is that in a very competitive industry as this, it would create other problems rather than help.
“The team is completely transformed compared to the past so let us work.”
Ferrari would finish the race in second and third spot after the early crash of both Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, but would ultimately miss out to Red Bull man Max Verstappen.
Having failed to pick up a constructor’s championship since 2008, the bigwigs at the top of the team are no doubt growing somewhat restless, however.
